Sue Kim (in honor of my Uncle, Eddie Kwan Ho Yu)
Please join me on Sunday, July 9th!
On July 8th of 2015, my uncle lost his battle to colon cancer after being diagnosed in October 2013. Being from Boston, he was my "SF father" and was an important part of my life. Had he screened early, he may still be with us today. So in honor of him and to spread awareness, I am on the committee team putting together this family-friendly 5k walk and race for colon cancer awareness.
Funds raised will go towards a local nonprofit, Operation Access. They play a large role in colon cancer prevention in the uninsured communities throughout the Bay Area by working with over 75 community clinics to promote pre-screening and ensuring the next step in treatment, if needed. Last year we were able to raise a grant of $21,165 for Operation Access. This amount will go back into the community for more screenings and preventive work!
Colon cancer does not get the same attention as other commonly known cancers even though it is the third most common cancer in the United States and is highly treatable if caught early. So please help me spread the awareness by joining me on Sunday, July 9th or with a donation.
Join us in making a difference for the thousands of people in our community touched by colon cancer!
