Together we can make a difference.
My name is Mollie Martin and I am one of millions who has been affected by cancer.
I will never forget that dreadful Wednesday when my dad called and told me to come home from college. I came home to find out my mom had Stage IV colon cancer. The year following was as painful as the news: surgery after surgery, chemo after chemo, and then radiation.
With all the odds stacked against her, my mom triumphed. In November 2013, my mom shared
"2 surgeries, 6 months of chemo, 4 weeks of radiation, countless prayers and good wishes, 5 years of anticipation and got the word today - CANCER FREE!"
Hundreds of people celebrated with her and our family. Not only did my mom beat cancer, but she also led five consecutive years of Ladd, Illinois Get Your Rear in Gear. My hometown Ladd (population 1,300) stood by her side along with every business in the area for those five years. Now it's my turn to help in my favorite city. I am a planning member of the Chicago Get Your Rear in Gear 2016. I am writing to you today asking for your support in helping us move closer to a cure. I have been so inspired by my mom's battle and commitment to raising awareness and finding a cure that we need your help.
Together we can help people stay well, get well and fight back. We look forward to many triumphs in the future, and we hope you will take part in this endeavor.
